We want to base our dystopia hotel on geometry/shapes and mechanic systems. We will focus on giving expression to various dense materials such as concrete, plaster, stone for our hotel to 'weigh' it down.

John Hancock's building (left) is something that we'd like to incorporate into our hotel. It gives a lot of expression to structure - using two systems rather than one. It feels very rigid/stiff and solid. I like the exterior use of colour and the enclosure of the building.
Taipei's performing arts center is really intriguing. The four sides of the building act as columns that raise the the center but are actually functional interior spaces. Open space has been given to the center as well which allows for people to pass through or congregate. The repetition of the square is one of the key elements of this building.
